Description
When I was a kid which was quite some time ago, we lived on a big farm over here in Highland county. We built a new 4 Bed Room home and for a furnace we had one of those octopus furnaces in the basement, which required coal and wood for fuel. It was a lot of work to go our on the farm with tractor and wagon and cut up dead trees and load them on the wagon and bring it all to the barn lot and use this extremely dangerous looking buzz saw to cut it all up into small pieces. You would lay a log on the sliding tray and push it into the open saw blade, which didn't discriminate between hands and wood if you get my meaning. You could actually cut a lot of wood in a hurry.
We used our Farmall H tractor with a 12 foot long 6 inch wide belt to turn the saw blade fast enough to cut thru the hardest wood. This time of the year found us pretty busy preparing for winter and finishing up with the crops. If you would like to see more old farms and equipment pay my web site a visit and bring your own coffee.
